International Skating Corporation (ISC) was established in 1996 and moved to its present location in Addison, Illinois in 1998. Our year-round training center offers a broad-based skating curriculum for all ages and skill levels. The ISC training philosophy seeks the highest individual results and offers more than just ice. Our program includes a comprehensive on and off-ice training format. On-ice training includes individual and group instruction in Jumps, Spins, Moves, Pairs, Choreography, Edge/Footwork, Power and Learn to Skate Program. Our off-ice training includes Ballet, Stretch, Jazz, Character Dance, Strength/Conditioning and Running/Biking.
The training is individualized and overseen in its entirety by Director Maria Jezak-Athey. She is a former Polish National Champion, International Competitor, qualified member of the 1980 Olympics,World and National level coach with 19 years experience in coaching, member of the United States Figure Skating Association, Professional Skaters Association and DuPage Figure Skating Club.
Training Groups/Professional Instruction
Currently, ISC has four groups in the competitive track. High Group consists of Intermediate, Novice, Junior and Senior USFSA skaters. Our Intermediate Group consists of Preliminary, Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile USFSA skaters. ISC's Beginner Group consists of Pre-Preliminary and Beginner USFSA skaters. Beginner USFSA Group consists of USFSA Limited Beginner skaters.
Our facility has a private room designated for High and Intermediate skaters' needs (changing, storing skate bags, video reviewing, meetings, etc.). ISC also has an exciting Learn To Skate Program for recreational skaters, tots through FS levels. Adult instruction is provided through private lessons.
Each ISC student contracts for an eight-week period of individually designed curriculum based on individual school schedules and budgets. When needed, ISC can provide daily transportation for skaters from their schools to the rink for a minimal fee based on distance. Skaters interested in trying out for an ISC Team are required to participate in the activities of the designated group for one week (free of charge).
Our permanent staff includes coaches with highest credentials in the fields of Figure Skating, Ballet, Dance and Strength/Conditioning Training and we use a Team Coaching Format. We believe that with today's demands of the sport of figure skating one coach cannot provide all the necessary elements of training alone. We try to choose the best people in each field to work in a team environment, working for the best results of each individual skater and for the growth of our school.
Summer Training Program
The ISC Summer Training Program runs from June through August and is available for all skaters in all competitive groups. Our program is designed to best accommodate ISC members and visiting skaters and coaches. We also provide a very intensive and exciting training period with skaters from Russia, Sweden, Norway, Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and other well known training centers.
Skating Exhibitions
We host an annual Spring Show, Christmas Exhibition, Summer Exhibition and Special Events/Guests Exhibitions throughout the year.
Professional Seminars/Clinics
Spring and Summer are our big months for Seminars and Clinics. Our focus is placed on the top coaches/choreographers/skaters of the last season's World and Junior World Championships an those who have established themselves as most recognized in their fields. Information concerning these events is provided in the Events Section of our Website.
A Team Spirit Competitive Training Environment
For advance skaters, we create an appropriate high level competitive environment with emphasis on team members helping each other achieve higher success. For beginning skaters, it makes the early competitive skating experience a special and interesting opportunity for goal setting.
Skating is generally considered an individual sport however it is very difficult for many skates to face the demands of the sport alone. We strive to create an environment that for the athletes is stimulating, enjoyable and productive. We set high standards for our skaters and make every effort to help them reach their greatest potential as athletes. It is our pleasure to be a part of their lives and watch them become better human beings enhanced by their experience in the world of competitive skating.
We take our skaters as a team to various competitions and camps, nationally and internationally. We believe this approach teaches our young students independence, high moral values and the importance of human relationships in a healthy and safe environment surrounded by people who sincerely care.
Recruitment Of A Select World Class Faculty
Our visiting staff is comprised of professionals from all over the world and their work with our skaters is always a pleasure. They are well prepared to handle aspiring world class students and usually generate a tremendous response from all that participate.
