Carina has been skating competitively since the age of nine. She has achieved national recognition by qualifying for the U.S. National Figue Skating Championships in two consecutive years: 1999 Junior Ladies and 1998 Novice Ladies. In 1998, Carina represented the USA in the North American Challenge Skate competition in San Jose, California, where she finished in 2nd place.
In March, 2000, Carina finished 15th among 47 skaters in the World Juniors Championships in Obertsdorf, Germany.
She has a unique family heritage in that she is a citizen of three countries from opposite corners of the world: United States, Taiwan and Brazil. She enjoys swimming, roller blading, reading and listening to music. She has a brother, Jeremy, who is an accomplished violinist.
Carina's dream is to win an Olympic medal. She admires Kristi Yamaguchi and Michelle Kwan for their consistency and artistry on the ice. She also likes animals and has a dog named "Missy."
