A native of Chicago, 18-year-old Magdalena Leski is a Senior at Driscoll High School. She started skating at the age of five and she now represents Poland, the homeland of her parents. She competes at the junior level.
Maggie has won 2002 Polish Nationals in Juniors and made Junior World Team. She placed 19th at her first Junior World Championships in Norway.
She won the Silver Medal in the Polish National Championships in January, 2000, and again in December, 2000. She lost the 2000 Championship by one judge.
She is a member of the Polish National Figure Skating Team. She was the Bronze Medalist in 1999 and is currently ranked 32nd (of 120) among World Junior Ladies.
Maggie's major accomplishments, in addition to her Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in Poland, include a bronze medal at the 1996 Junior Olympics; ninth place at the 1998 ISU Junior Grand Prix Series competition in Mexico City; seventh place at the 1998 ISU Grand Prix Series competition in Beijing, China; tenth place in the Junior Grand Prix in Bled, Slovenia; and twelfth place in Nagano, Japan; sixth place in Gdansk, Poland in 2000; and a bronze medal at the 2001 Junior Grand Prix in Gdansk, Poland.
Maggie is the daughter of Elizabeth and Jack Leski and she has a brother, Damian. She enjoys dance, music and painting, in addition to her skating. In October, 1999, she skated in the "October on Ice 1999" benefit in Boston to help the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She dedicated her performance to Dr. Raisa Jezak, the mother of her coach, who died of breast cancer at the age of 43.
